Why I'm Changing How I Write About Safety (And What It Means for You)

If you're like most leaders, you don't have hours to read through safety manuals, policy updates, and long-winded articles. You just want something practical you can use right away.

That's why I'm changing the way that I write this blog and my weekly newsletter.

Why the Change?

Over the last few months, I've talked with a lot of business owners, supervisors, and new leaders. The message I kept hearing was clear:

" We don't need more information. We need quick, actionable safety insights we can actually use in the real world."

And they're right. Safety shouldnt feel overwhealming. It should feel doable- because it is!

Introducing the SAFE Format

Starting next week, every blog and newsletter will follow the SAFE format:

  • S- Story: A short, relatable story from the field (because real examples stick).

  • A- Actionable Insight: 1-3 clear steps you can try immediately.

  • F- Framework/Freebie: A tool, checklist, or script you can grab and use this week.

  • E- Engage: An invitation to respond, reflect or share how it worked for you.

The goal?

To give you one safety win every week in under 5 minutes.

What This Means for You

Instead of sifting through pages of policy talk, you'll get:

  • Quick tips you can share in you next toolbox talk.

  • Simple frameworks to make safety visible.

  • Real-life examples of what works (and what doesn't).

  • Encouragement to keep building a culure of safety- without the overwhealm

What's Next

The very first SAFE-format newsletter is going out next week, and the blog will follow the same rhythm. Each one will leave you with something practical you can put into action immediately!

I'm excited about this shift because it's not about dumping more information on you- it's about giving you tools, clarity, and confidence as a leader.

And I want your input too!
